Mechanism of Action of Azatadine |
Azatadine acts by blocking the binding of histamine to receptors in the body. It does not prevent the actual release of histamine from mast cells. By blocking the binding of histamine, the release of other chemicals and increased blood supply to the area is prevented or decreased. This results in prevention or relief of the typical symptoms of an allergic reaction |

MAOIs & TCAs: Enhance anticholinergic side effects of azatadine. Alcohol & Other CNS depressants: CNS depression potentiated. Betahistine: Antagonises effects of azatadine. Antimuscarinics: Increased antimuscarinic side effects. |

Adult- 1 tab/day Or 2 tab twice a day (in severe cases) Children- 6-12 yrs – ? to 1 tab twice a day 1-6 yrs- ? tsp twice a day |

Effects of Missed Dosage of Azatadine |
Take the missed dose as soon as noticed and if it is the time for next dose then skip the missed dose. Continue the regular schedule. Do not double the dose. |
